CHILD WELCOMING CEREMONY OR SPIRITUAL BAPTISM

Welcoming ceremonies for new family members, whether by birth, adoption or marriage, have existed in virtually every culture and country. Publicly marking the entry of new members into our families is perhaps one of the most joyous celebrations we can share, and acknowledging our responsibilities to our children one of the most serious commitments we can undertake.

The spiritual baptism enables to celebrate a child’s entry into life without having any religious connotation. This type of ceremony is accessible to everyone, and accommodates those that do not practice any religion or who are of different religion. It still allows the child to have godparents without any religious requirements or rites.

Whether it is a birth or an adoption, the spiritual baptism is a very important moment to celebrate!

This ceremony is usually symbolized by three beliefs:

Welcome

This child that is joining a family is being welcomed by his or her close ones. Parents, godparents, family and friends are there to greet the child.

Love

By what the child receives throughout his or her life, this child will learn to live Love.
All those that are present at the celebration commit to help the child fully develop his or her potential. Sharing with the child their greatest qualities, they will enable that child to take charge of his or her life and grow towards responsibility.

Assurance

During the ceremony, we assure to provide our support to the child.
